The History of La Ventana: Remembering Guillermo Lucero - by Tom Spradley. In January 2000, my wife and I began our first winter in La Ventana, lured by our son Bruce, who had found the village a few years earlier looking for a good place to windsurf. We came for the warm winter weather, beautiful scenery, star-studded night sky, and to meet other venturesome gringos from the north, some two dozen at the most. Then, I hired my sonβs friend Guillermo to help me clear the property I bought in El Sargento. He became my friend, gardener, guide to the rhythms of village life, and patient Spanish teacher. Through his quiet wisdom and easy laughter, he opened a window into the heart of Baja Sur, offering companionship and a deeper understanding of the place we both called home. Almadraba La Ventana - Join us on the water for a great cause! Weβre looking for volunteers on kayaks and stand-up paddleboards to help support swimmers during the βAlmadraba La Ventana, 2025β open water race. May 31, 7:00am to 12:00pm. Recycling Center: Thursday, May 1st from 8:00 to 10:00 am behind the Farmer's Market. Here is what we recycle: all Plastics (including caps!), Glass Bottles (broken too!), Aluminum cans, Metals (including metal caps), Packaging Styrofoam, Batteries, Cork, Cigarette Butts (in DRY PET bottle), and 5 gallon water jugs. We also love glass containers with metal lids for reuse purposes! Recycling guide coming soon!

βWomen & the Windβ World Premiere - Three Women, one Catamaran and the Atlantic Ocean. We are so honored to present the world premiere documentary screening of βWomen & the Windβ at Baja Joeβs at 7pm this Thursday, May 1. Women & the Wind is a project aimed at igniting the flames of curiosity and adventure which lay dormant within so many of us, by deepening our understanding of the synergy between nature and humanityβand by doing so radically. This project is led by a group of women and realized through a voyage across the North Atlantic on Mara Noka, a 50-year-old wooden catamaran. Read more.
